2016 was dubbed ‘the year of ransomware’… but what about 2017?

Within the last week a new strain of ransomware, named SynAck, has been reported. According to news coverage, this type of ransomware demands its victims to contact them directly via email or a BitMessage ID, to organise making the ransom payment.

Research compiled by UK based IT support firm, TSG, identifies that 54% of British businesses experienced a Ransomware attack in 2016 and 37% paid the ransom.
