Four Awesome Kitchen Appliances that Do All the Work for You

No matter how much they are devoted to a healthy lifestyle – people just don’t like to spend too much time in the kitchen.

Just take a look at this – according to data provided by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, people spend around 1 hour and 8 minutes every day consuming food during the week and 1 hour and 17 minutes eating and drinking during the weekends – on the other hand, people spend only 34 minutes daily both preparing and cleaning up.

Unsurprisingly, men spend a lot less time in the kitchen. According to the aforementioned report, only around 43% of men spend any time at all on both food preparation and cleanup. Compared to almost 70% of women who do.

What’s worse, as Forbes reports, recent statistics have shown that while people spend less time cooking and eating, obesity rates are still through the roof, due to quantity of low-quality food they consume.  So what’s the solution here? You can’t just give on home cooking just because you don’t have time for it…

The Smart Home Revolution

There’s no better time for all of the lazy cooks around the world than now, because the smart home revolution is finally here.

In the last couple of years, the expansion of the “Internet of Things” and the availability of technology has made our lives simpler than ever. And no part of the home is better suited for taking advantage of this new technology than the kitchen.

You’ve probably heard about the Samsung Smart Fridge that lets you check the inside of your fridge from your smartphone.

We have to admit that these high-tech fridges while these fridges have their perks, they won’t actually help you prepare your food easier, and in most cases, they are quite expensive. However, there are some cost-effective kitchen appliances that are taking advantage of new technologies…

Four Kitchen Appliances That Will make Your Life Easier

  • Orange Chef Countertop

Formerly known as Prep Pad, Orange Chef Countertop is actually aimed at all health-nuts around the glove. If you’re feeling guilty about overstuffing yourself with all of those frozen meals and takeaways, this gadget will help you improve your diet without too much effort on your side. You can also connect the countertop to other smart appliances if you want to get recommendations for cooking recipes…

·         Smart Frying Pan

There’s a ton of smart pans on the market, but we’re going to talk about one specific model. The Pantelligent pan was founded through Kickstarter, where it received more than 275% more money than the creators originally asked for. They’ve recently finished assembling their pre-orders, and the device is now readily available for purchasing on the official website.

And if you need any more recommendations, you should be aware that the pan was highlighted on the Today Show as one of the hottest new smart devices. So how does it work – it simply connects to your smartphone and monitors the temperature of your food and cooking time. The official app also comes with a wide range of different recipes that alert you when you need to flip the meat, turn down the temperature, etc.

·         The Instant Pot

Here we have a semi-famous product that you’ve probably heard of. People have been talking about the Instant Pot for quite some time now, and the product actually lives up to the hype. It actually combines no less than seven appliances in one – steamer, warmer, yogurt maker, sauté, rice, pressure and slow cooker – this means you can prepare a ton of different meals with one appliance.

Seeing how multi-functionality is one the biggest kitchen appliance trends this year, Instant Pot’s popularity isn’t really surprising. It’s pretty easy to use and it comes with a ton of presets for different types of foods. And if you forget to take the food out of the pot once it’s done, the appliance will keep your meal over for ten hours if needed.

·         Ember/Aqua Smart Thermometer

When you’re preparing meet, knowing when the meal is done is certainly not easy, so in most cases, you meat stays in the pot for too long and you end up with an overcooked, bland meal. Thankfully, this is where the Range thermometer comes into play. There are actually two versions of the product – the Ember version, which is designed specifically for meat and Aqua version for brewing, stews and candy.

Both of these thermometers plug into your phone and give you instant temperature readings, which allow you to know when your meal will be done. You’ll also have remote alerts about the meal, which means there’s no actual chance of overcooking your meal even if you’re not in the kitchen. The app also comes with USDA-recommended pack of presets for meat that monitor your cooking experiments.

The Double-Edged Sword of Convenience

Although all of the appliances we mentioned above will make the cooking process easier and quicker, you still have to put in some effort to find the right healthy recipes and buy the needed food items, so on and so forth…

Unfortunately, as Ayala Laufer-Cahana, MD explains in her Huffington Post article, some people out there are in fact proud of their ignorance in the kitchen, because they believe they can live happily without the basic cooking skills.

As you’re probably aware, this simply isn’t true. So while relying on technology to do the portion of work for you is not a bad thing by any means, you still have to put in some effort in food prep if you want to live a long and happy life…
